Just a simple boot screen to complete my Vista Ultimate Theme for XP Pro SP2. Made it, because the boot skin program for windowblinds is choppy on the progress bar and the less programs running in the background for my theme the better, Enjoy.

Was created from XP Professional SP2. Rename it NTOSKRNL without the (_Vista) and replace it in Safemode(F8).(Make sure you are using XP PRO SP2 English!)THIS IS NOT FOR SP3 THANKS

ATTN:!!
Have found it doesn't work on some DELL machines and IBM, specifically business versionlike optiplex, so BACK UP OLD ONE up first, before replacing. Never had any issues if it is a HOME BUILT PC. Dell latitudes work though, some Business and store bought machines have protection built in I think.

This is excellent... Can you tell me which file to replace..the exe is not executin ?

It is the NTOSKRNL file in windows/system32, rename it ntoskrnl and paste it in the system32 folder in SAFE MODE by pushing f8 at start up, it won't replace unless you are in safe mode. Thanks for your interest, I could find anything like it on the net, so I made one.

Can you please make a Stardock Bootskin version?
I've been looking for something like this for a long time, but nobody has made the progressbar right
If you could do it, I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Sorry, just read about the not smooth comment.
Well, thanks, I'll apply it when I get a chance :)

Very nice boot, perfect work!!

I downloaded it and want to use it, but cannot replace the file. I tried like you said. Bood in safe mode and replaced, but didn't have any affect. Then I tried with the programm REPLACER. It replaced the file, but also didn't have any affect on the bootscreen. My system still boots with the old screen....

I wish I could use it.... pleeeeeease help!!!! :-)

I got it replaced... but it almost destroyed my setup.
Not using krnl replacements for bootscreens anymore :(

Need to make sure your os is XP SP2 and rename the file NTOSKRNL with out the vista. I have used it on over 10 computers.

Must rename it NTOSKRNL without the Vista and replace it in Safe Mode,
I've used it in many computers. On my Ibm thinkpad Z60m they have protection in the bios to keep the original boot, I had to turn it off to get it to boot with the new one. Make sure your bios doesn't have a protection enabled and make sure you have XP SP2 and it is renamed like the original.

I will some time, I have made it for the stardock before, but it isn't as smooth. If you have XP SP2, and you renamed it NTOSKRNL without the Vista, it should work just fine. Thanks, and sorry you had troubles with it.

Exactly what I did, I have XP SP2, and I removed the _Vista part, so it would say "ntoskrnl"
