Ever Wonder what you would do if your Blu-Ray disc got scratched or broken beyond playing. Well why not back it up and watch the backup, keep the original safe and sound.
This guide will give you step by step to squeeze your Blu-Ray onto a DVD9 DVD+R DL with practically no loss of quality. You could even compress to DVD5 DVD+R and it still looks better than standard DVD. BLU-RAY TO DVD9 DVD+R DL *********************************************** (This is a sample of the guide, minus the screen shots) *********************************************** This guide is written for backing up your precious Blu-Ray that you own, in case they get scratched etc. First you will need to gather the tools needed: 1. ANYDVD HD 2. FFDSHOW 2700+ 3. AVISYNTH 2.58 4. MATROSKA SPLITTER 5. RIPBOT264 1.13.3 6. JAVA RUNTIME 7. NERO OR EQUAL BURNING PROGRAM FOR .ISO 8. BD-ROM / DVD-RW DL DRIVE 9. TSMUXER GUI 1.8.16(b) (ONLY IF YOU NEED IT) YOU CAN GET MOST OF THEM FROM: [link] Recommended computer hardware specs: - Windows Vista or XP - (Recommended quad core) or dual core 2.4+ - 2gb RAM (4GB RAM+ Recommended) - 256mb video card or better - 100gb free hard drive space min. My rig has a Core 2 Quad 2.4ghz CPU, 4GB DDR2 800 Corsair XMS, On board Intel X4500HD 328mb RAM Graphics, SATA II 500GB 16mb cache Hard drive, 430 watt Power supply and it encodes at an average 26fps on The first pass and an average 10fps on the second pass. I tried it on my thinkpad T60p with a Core 2 Duo 2ghz 800mhz fsb, 4gb DDR2 667 Corsair select RAM, 256mb ATI Mobility Fire GL V5250, 100gb 7200 rpm SATA150 and it encoded at an average 8fps 1-pass, 2fps 2nd-pass, that was with 140700 frames to encode. Do the math, that would take Over 11 hours, where as the other setup is about 5-6 hrs. 1. So first you will need to install the required software that works in the background, ( ffdshow, avisynth and Matroska splitter). Then over course install everything else, ripbot264 will not install without these programs installed first. 2. After starting ANYDVD HD right click on the fox icon by the system clock and select (rip to folder), make sure to select the destination folder. 3. (UPDATED) You don't have to use TSMUXER unless you want to do some editing to the file like cut etc. Ripbot will allow you to select the audio stream you want and you can either X.Copy the stream or convert it to AC3. 4. Now that you have selected the video stream you want in RIPBOT264 by adding the sample.m2ts file you just ripped to folder (STREAM/00001.m2ts), it will take about 10 minutes for it to demux the audio and index the video. Once that is finished you will have a few things to set: Once it has analyzed the file it will pop up with a window to select the video and audio stream you want. Now decide if you want to X.Copy the Stream or the most compliant is to convert to Aften.AC3 Dobly Digital. Then set the profile to 4.0 blu-ray - set the mode to 2-pass - set the output location and select to save as blu-ray disc - Check the box, lock size and set to 8140mb Look at your settings and make sure they are similar to the screen shot below: Now click on the Properties button and decide whether you want to resize to 1280x720 for saving additional space. You can choose to not resize and keep 1920x1080p if you think the size is close to 8gb, like if the file is 11-15gb you Could probably keep the original size, but if it is more like 19-28gb or more you might want to resize to 720p. I have done both and can't tell the difference in res. Its up to you to see how the rate of compression affects the quality. See below for screen shot of resizing: Now that you have made sure all the settings are right, click OK and then on the next screen click Start. I select shutdown when done and start it when I go to bed. Ahhhh, big yawn and time to turn on the computer and start converting your compressed file to an image .ISO. Open IMGBURN and select (Create Image from files/folders: Now ADD the two folders BDMV and CERTIFICATE one at a time using the search/folder icon Then make sure you have the following settings done: - set Destination of output file - go to Options Tab, set file system to UDF and Revision to 2.5 - go to Labels Tab and in the UDF: section label it like this: NAME_AVCHD_ENGLISH Once the settings are done make sure your main screen looks something like below, especially where you have added the two folders: Wow the anticipation is getting to me, well if you have Nero or another program that burns image files .ISO, then Just double click on the .ISO image and it will start the program to burn the image. Make sure your image is set to burn FINALIZED no further burning. 15 minutes or so your DVD+R DL disc will be done and you will have a nice backup Of your movie original that you purchased and want to protect from damage of kids, dogs etc. Good luck and Enjoy! Enjoy, comments are welcome! |
